Pupil Profiles: Keira Luke

In the lead-up to our Open Morning events in April, we will be taking a look at the pupils that make Rydal Penrhos such a fantastic place to live and learn.

The latest Prep School pupil under the spotlight is Keira Luke:

  • Name: Keira Luke
  • Year group: Year 6
  • Pupil status: Prep
  • House: Brecon

It is not easy being a little sister as many can testify, but Keira continues to make a name for herself in her own right and has become one of the key components in the overall success of the Prep School from a pupil perspective.

The ten-year-old has achieved an enormous amount since enrolling at Rydal Penrhos’ nursery in 2011 and has taken full advantage of the wealth of opportunities that are presented to each pupil under our care.

Following in the footsteps of Sixth Form brother Ewan, her sailing exploits have been vast and culminated in selection to the RS Tera Sport National Development Squad after impressing selectors.

She also competed at the RS Tera World Championships last summer, and has also secured a number of regional and national accomplishments in what has been a hugely impressive young career on the water to date.

Despite being in Year 5, Keira has also been making a telling contribution to the school’s U11 netball side, who have continued their rich history of success during the recently completed season.

Keira has also broadened her horizons and aided her overall development by joining the newly formed girls’ tag rugby side, who have taken to a new sport extremely well thanks to the expert coaching given to them by Head of Boys’ Games Jamie McLeod.

Her academic achievements have also been a huge part of her contribution to Rydal Penrhos, and she was one of the first Year 5 pupils to complete the school-led Spelling Challenge, and her efforts during a science project on the topic of Space also gained plaudits.

She has also benefitted from the Music programme at the Prep School and has gained a series of grading accolades administered by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, while also contributing heavily to concerts put on throughout the academic year.

Rydal Penrhos will be holding Senior and Prep Open Morning events on Friday, April 26 and Saturday 27 from 9.30am, and to book your place contact Admissions Officer Jenny Marsden on 01492 530155 or email admissions@rydalpenrhos.com.
