In the lead-up to our Open Morning events in April, we will be taking a look at the pupils that make Rydal Penrhos such a fantastic place to live and learn.
The first Sixth Form pupil to feature is Elinor Davies.
Name: Elinor Davies
Year group: 2018 Leaver
Pupil status: Day
It has been a very memorable 12 years at Rydal Penrhos for Elinor, who enrolled as a Prep School Reception class pupil in 2006.
There is very little that the 18-year-old has not thrown herself into, which has seen her become a hugely influential member of the Rydal Penrhos community.
Her final year at the school has been filled with notable milestones, which began with a journalism work experience week with Communications Assistant Dean Jones and her appointment as a Prefect following a successful application process.
During the five days, Elinor got a crash course in all things related to the profession, while also getting the opportunity to interview high-profile chef Bryn Williams for an article.
This was swiftly followed by the creation of Rydal Penrhos’ school newspaper The RePorter, where Elinor and Ben Gibson oversee work submitted by a wide range of pupils across a number of age groups.
The paper has become a huge success and is yet another example of pupil-led initiatives that receive the backing and full support of Headmaster Simon Smith and other staff at the school.
Her efforts were enough to see her awarded a Headmaster's Award from the end of Autumn term Prizegiving.
She got the chance to try her hand at something new last year thanks to another wonderful initiative put on by Rydal Penrhos when she was part of the Dramatic Society cast for Annie the Musical, which was her first time taking part in such a showcase.
Elinor’s sporting achievements have also been vast, with the pupil gaining notable accolades in Athletics, Netball and Hockey after developing significantly under the guidance of Rydal Penrhos’ dedicated staff during her time at the school.
Rydal Penrhos will be holding Senior and Prep Open Morning events on Friday, April 26 and Saturday 27 from 9.30am, and to book your place contact Admissions Officer Jenny Marsden on 01492 530155 or email email@example.com.
