Pupil Blog: Netball captain Keira gives account of Liverpool College & Oswestry fixtures

On Friday, March 8, the U11 Netball team played against Liverpool College at home.

They won the toss and chose first centre pass, but we weren’t going to let that stop us. To start off with it was an extremely close match with most of the game being played in the centre third, but soon we scored the first goal quickly, which was followed by another.

We continued our scoring streak to finish the first half with a 4-0 cushion.

The second half was much the same story with great teamwork from everyone, including the great defenders who didn’t let Liverpool’s shooters get in the D.

Liverpool College scored one goal just before the final whistle leaving the final score 7-1 to Rydal Penrhos. Player of the Match was Keira (me).

We also travelled to Oswestry on Saturday, March 9 for a morning match.

Once the game started it was clear that they were a very strong side, but we worked hard and managed to keep the score after the first quarter to 4-1.

The second quarter was a very fast-paced section where Oswestry scored three more goals and Rydal Penrhos scored two to leave the score at 7-3.

The third quarter saw much better attacking and defending from the whole team, so much so that we scored three and conceded just two to win this period of the match.

The final quarter was challenging for everyone, we dug deep and finished the match 12-5 to Oswestry. Player of the Match was Gracie Tavernor.

I would like to thank Mrs Pyves for organising both fixtures and to the whole team for playing so well.

Keira Luke
