Some of the region’s best young artists will have their competition work showcased at a special event this weekend.
The Prep and Primary Schools’ Art competition has been taking entries from a wealth of different education establishments throughout North Wales, Cheshire and the North West, with the winning entries announced at the Sixth Form Ferguson Centre on Saturday, June 29.
The theme for the 2019 competition is ‘Discovering the land’, reflecting upon the great outdoors, a sense of place, and the natural beauty of our landscape, but allowing for any interpretation of the theme or a more abstract form.
The interpretation of the theme can be tailored to fit with the curriculum or specific project work in class.
There were two categories for the competition; Years 3-4 and Years 5-6, and the work will also be demonstrated at a special exhibition situated at the school later this year.
Every school entered will have its own specific winners, with an overall top three also set to be determined.
Each entry has been judged and a special exhibition will take pride of place at the event, which is set to start at 11am.
Senior School Head Sally Ann Harding, said: “We have had so many wonderful entries for this year’s Prep and Primary Schools’ Art competition that we run here at Rydal Penrhos, and anybody coming to the prize giving and exhibition is sure to be impressed with the overall quality of work on display.”
