Rydal Penrhos School has announced the appointment of Paul Sanders as new Head of Middle School.
The popular figure will be taking over from John Murphy at the start of the next academic year in September, and he has been part of the staff team at Rydal Penrhos since 2012.
Mr Sanders studied a BA in Sport Management at Coventry University before heading to the University of Manchester to undertake his PGCE.
This was followed by teaching work in the Manchester and Bolton area where he moved from a Year 7 Transition Coordinator to Pastoral Leader (Head of Year) of Year 8 and Head of Year 10.
During his time at Rydal Penrhos, Mr Sanders has been Head of Morgan House, Assistant Head of Middle School as is also taking over from the Reverend Nick Sissons as lead teacher for the school’s bi-annual World Aims trip to Uganda, where he will be leading a sixth charity mission next July.
Mr Sanders, said: “A pastoral role such as Head of Middle School is ultimately to help the pupils to achieve academically.
“Being in a position such as this therefore, allows me to act as the mentor, social worker, or even as a role model to help and support that pupil to achieve their potential.
“I am very excited to be taking on this role. I love being in the classroom, but having the opportunity to lead a large cohort of pupils and make an impression to every member of Middle School, is a fantastic opportunity.
“I will be actively seeking to instil a sense of pride in Middle School and build upon the excellent work of Mr Murphy to help drive a love of learning in the pupils. I want them to be proud of our school, and their achievements in their time here, and support them in achieving their potential.
“I am looking at how the Grange can be better utilised as a social base for Middle School and thinking about how I can use my assemblies to drive my vision and inspire our pupils towards achieving success.”
