Rydal Penrhos Community
Pastoral Day and Boarding

We consider pastoral care to be at the heart of the school’s approach to the pupil as an individual. Alongside every member of the school, whether a boarder or a day pupil, is a team of staff supporting and encouraging him or her to succeed and develop their abilities and interests.

Pupils in Years 7 and 8 are in the Lower School, led by the Head of Lower School, Mrs Gabrielle Murphy. Years 9, 10 and 11 form the Middle School, led by Mr John Murphy, while the Sixth form (Years 12 and 13) is led by Mr Peter Lavery. The role of the Heads of School is to co-ordinate information about each pupil, work with parents and staff to resolve difficulties or problems as they arise, and ensure that the pupils under their care are making good progress.

Each boarding house has its own team of Housemaster or Housemistress, Matron and Assistant Housemaster or Housemistress to provide care and support to the boarders before and after the school day. Our boarding provision is inspected every three years by CSSIW (Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales) and the latest inspection report, in April 2016, can be found opposite.
