A Sixth Form pupil at Rydal Penrhos achieved success with his Army Cadet squad recently.
Nicholas Fiorita, a Year 12 pupil at the school, recently took part in a series of First Aid competitions with the group, winning best 15-18 year-olds for youth organisations representing the cadets.
He was presented this award by the Lord Lieutenant of Gwynedd.
More recently his company won the county battalion first aid competition and eight cadets headed to South Wales earlier this month to take part in the Welsh regional first aid competition.
Competing with three other cadets, the 17-year-old emerged from an intense day of competition victorious by a margin of just a few points.
They will now go on to represent Wales and the 160th Brigade in the British National First Aid Finals later this year.
Deputy Head Tim Cashell, said: “This was an absolutely fantastic effort from Nicholas to achieve not only individual success, but his work as a valued team member is equally as pleasing.
“This is a prime example of the leadership qualities we install into every pupil under our care here at Rydal Penrhos, and hopefully Nicholas and his team will take their positive momentum into the national competition and secure further success.
“Everyone at Rydal Penrhos is immensely proud of his effort and wish him well at the next stage of the competition.”
