A Sixth Form pupil at Rydal Penrhos showed off her culinary skills for a special event involving the school’s parent group.
Nia Humphreys, a Year 12 pupil at the school, produced a delicious luncheon for members of the Friends of Rydal Penrhos Committee as a way of saying thank you for all their hard work in raising funds throughout the academic year.
The sports scholar and Prefect is working towards Level 3 Extended Certificate in Professional Cookery, which is another exciting option available as part of the ongoing developments at the school under Executive Principal John Waszek and Senior School Head Sally Ann Harding.
The pupil produced a two-course lunch – together with canapés – as part of the meal, which was also attended by Mr Waszek and FORPS chair Sarah James.
This included a rack of spring lamb from Edwards of Conwy and a summer fruit Pavlova with a fruit coulis.
They began their meal with a mocktail recommended by ‘Bod’ from Deganwy’s Prohibition.
Fellow pupil Barooj Maqsood, together with Head of Food Studies Laura Gardener, also lent their support to Nia throughout the preparation and cooking process.
Ms Gardener, said: “Nia did amazingly well in what is a very pressured situation to produce a fantastic meal for members of the incredible FORPS Committee, who do so much wonderful work to assist various projects throughout all departments here at Rydal Penrhos.”
