Netball captain Keira gives account of Urdd Conwy Championship victory

On Friday, February 16, the U11 Netball team travelled to Colwyn Bay Leisure Centre to play in the annual Urdd Conwy tournament.

There were 13 teams altogether and we split into three separate groups, with the Rydal Penrhos team in Group A.

Our first match was against Ysgol Maes Owen saw lots of great attacking and passing from the whole team, and the defenders also played a key part, helping us secure a 9-0 victory.

The next two matches we found very easy and with very swift passing throughout both games, we won 9-0 and 7-0.

We were off for over half an hour until the next match so we went to the park and had lots of fun on the zip wire and other things.

Our final match of the group stage was against Ysgol Llanddulas A and this was our hardest game yet, however we worked together and got through to win 3-1 due to the prowess of both the attackers and defenders.

Since we won all our group matches, we got through to the semi-finals against Ysgol Nant y Groes where we obtained a very convincing win of 10-0.

The final was a very close call as we played against Ysgol Deganwy, but we all tried our hardest and it was just enough to secure a very well deserved victory of 4-0 to Rydal Penrhos.

I’d like to thank Mrs Pyves for taking us and the whole team for playing so well. We are all looking forward to representing Conwy at the National Finals in Aberystwyth later this year.
