A Preparatory School netball side will look to finish off their season in style at a national competition this weekend.
Rydal Penrhos’ U11 squad will travel to Aberystwyth to compete at the Urdd National Championships on Sunday, May 12, which will see them test their skills against other successful qualifiers in the hope of securing the crown.
They booked their place at the tournament with a dominant display at the Urdd Conwy competition, which saw them take home the title thanks to a series of standout displays.
The Prep School stars produced some exceptional performances throughout the 13-team tournament, and they managed to achieve a 100 per cent record to emerge as champions.
Their superb collective effort was further reflected in their scoring differential during the showcase, which saw Rydal Penrhos scored 32 and conceded just one.
This is the second time in three years that the school’s U11 side secured the Urdd Conwy title, with the 2017 squad also achieving the same feat.
Many of the squad will be looking for their second national title in a week, with the school’s U11 hockey squad clinching the Welsh Schools’ U12 Plate Championship on Thursday.
Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “We have been blessed with so much sporting success from our amazing pupils during the academic year, and hopefully this can continue this weekend at the Urdd National Championships.
“Our U11 side are a fantastic bunch who have come on a great deal thanks to the hard work of Mrs Pyves and her team, and we wish them the very best of luck.”
