Netball stars at Rydal Penrhos began their season in fine style with a strong performance at a regional event.
The girls’ senior side travelled to Ysgol Bryn Elian on Wednesday, November 29 to take part in the President’s Cup, which featured a number of other schools from the region.
They began the tournament with a hard-fought contest against the hosts and defending champions, and despite a determined effort, they fell to a narrow 15-10 defeat.
The group responded significantly well to the setback and produced a memorable effort to come away with a convincing 20-4 triumph over St David’s College, and they followed this up with another eye-catching result as they secured a 16-5 victory over Eirias High School.
This ensured a second-place finish for Rydal Penrhos, with Head of Girls’ Games Nicky Head commending the “great communication and drive” throughout the competition.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, added: “This was a very encouraging effort from the squad and full credit goes to everyone involved.
“The squad has been working very hard on all aspects of their game in recent weeks under the guidance of Mrs Head and our specialist Netball coach Heidi Blakewell, and their continued efforts have seen a great progression in their individual performance and the way they are working together as a cohesive unit.”
