Two talented young netballers at Rydal Penrhos have demonstrated their leadership prowess in new positions during the initial stages of the school season.
Head of Girls’ Games Nicky Head announced the school’s 2nd VII captain and vice-captain ahead of what has been a busy season so far prior to the half term break.
Year 11 pupil Cerys Cuddihy has been rewarded for her exceptional leadership qualities with the captain’s role, with Sydney Johnson working alongside the new appointment in her role as vice-captain.
The duo played a leading role in a recent fixture against King’s School Chester, which saw the Rydal Penrhos side put in a stunning effort to come away with a 23-14 victory.
The second unit began the game in dominant fashion thanks to some outstanding interceptions from Tallulah Batley and Eleanor Osbourne, with the shooters’ capitalising on the turnovers to give them a comfortable cushion.
This pace was kept up throughout the game as the home side saw out the remainder of the game in comfortable fashion for a well-deserved success that will stand them in good stead for the challenges that lie ahead.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Both Cerys and Sydney have led by example during the initial stages in their respective roles, and the performances of the squad as a whole so far this season have been very encouraging to date.
“Hopefully this is a trend that can continue after the half term break and I wish Cerys and Sydney the very best of luck for their remaining fixtures.”
