A group of Preparatory School musicians took centre stage at a special event last week.
Rydal Penrhos held the latest Young Performers’ Concert on Wednesday, February 21, which featured a host of outstanding talent across varying year groups.
The nine pupils have been working incredibly hard under the expert guidance of Music teacher Richard Davies in the lead-up to the showcase, which is the latest in a series of concerts put on by the school to boost confidence and
Year 6 pupil Liam Farrell demonstrated his prowess on the Piano with a fantastic performance, with superb vocalist Perry Williams also catching the eye with his effort.
Isabella Peevor and Isabel Stubbings also shone on the Flute and Violin respectively, while Eloise Brown, Fflur Pierce and Keira Luke producing fantastic pieces on the Piano as part of their contribution to the concert.
Perhaps the highlight of the evening were the vocal performances of Angus Holland and Eleanor Turner, who were singing in front of a live audience for the first time and drew widespread plaudits from those in attendance, with Headmaster Simon Smith stating it was “one of the bravest and most inspiring things I have seen at any school”.
This was down to the confidence that both have gained in various sessions with Mr Davies, which have boosted their enthusiasm and enhanced their singing technique in the process.
Mr Davies, said: “There were the usual assured and distinguished performances from Perry, Isabella and Liam - but I was so proud of Eleanor and Angus for singing so beautifully.
“It was their first performance in front of an audience, and something we’ve not done before, including in the Pre-Prep.”
