Members of the Rydal Penrhos community raised hundreds from a special fundraising event in aid of a national maritime charity.
A large number of volunteers from the school participated in their annual bag packing drive at Morrisons, Colwyn Bay on Saturday, January 26, with all proceeds going towards the RNLI.
Staff, Governors and pupils took separate shifts during the day, where they aided customers with their groceries in exchange for a small donation.
They were also joined by representatives from the RNLI throughout the event, and their efforts in-store managed to secure a total of £625.17.
This total was further boosted by £294.70 collected throughout the Bay View Centre from RNLI volunteers, bring the final amount to £919.77.
Sailing administrator Petrina Blomeley, who organised this year’s event, said: “I would like to offer huge thanks to our amazing 30 volunteers who gave up their time in shifts to support the RNLI at the recent bag packing day at Morrison’s Colwyn Bay.
“Thanks must also go to the governors and parents Bethan and Margaret for their support and to the generous public who donated.
“Our pupils also took the opportunity to speak to the other RNLI members and ex Rydalian Peter Weekes to establish the history and links between Rydal Penrhos and the local RNLI.
“We have had thanks for our support from the RNLI and have been booked in for next year already.”
