More than £33,000 raised for Ferguson Centre restoration project

Sixth Form pupils at Rydal Penrhos are calling for one final push relating to this year’s Annual Fund to transform a prominent building.

Ambitious plans have been made to turn the Sixth Form Ferguson Centre into a “bright, creative and inspiring space”, and this is a pupil led project organised by the Upper Sixth duo of Anna Richardson and Morgan Roberts.

As part of the campaign, the team have researched possible designs, contacted companies for quotes, met with the Senior Leadership Team as well as presenting their plans to Governors at the school.

Thanks to various fundraising initiatives and generous donations, the total now stands at £33,616 of the £50,000 target, and there are plenty of exciting things upcoming to boost the figure even more.

Alumni and Development director Sarah Ritchie, said: “Thanks so much to everyone who has supported the Ferguson Centre campaign so far.  Now we are back from the Christmas holidays we need a boost to help us to get over the finish line before the Easter holidays, which will mean that our Year 13 pupils will be able to use the newly refurbished facility for their final term.

“We still have a way to go and I am continuing to work with our alumni, parents and friends of the school to get us there.  The Sixth Form are also getting involved, and are currently organising a table tennis tournament to raise money, and Pete Lavery has been out running 50km around London over the break, which also boosted the total.

“On completion of the campaign we will be producing a donor recognition piece which will be displayed in the Ferguson Centre.  This will feature the names of all those who have supported the campaign (unless the donor has asked to remain anonymous).

“This is not only a public “thank you” to our supporters, but also a clear visual statement to our pupils showing them how many people support them.”
