A selfless Preparatory School pupil raised funds for a national Cancer charity at a special event recently.
Martha-Rose Johnson, a Year 2 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, joined a hoard of other female fundraisers at the Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, which was held in Stoke-on-Trent.
The six-year-old completed the five kilometre course in impressive fashion, taking just 51 minutes to cross the line.
Mums, sisters, daughters and friends jogged, walked and even danced their way around the Trentham Estate for the annual all-female race.
They were lucky to have almost perfect weather conditions after Cancer Research UK was forced to re-arrange the popular event for health and safety reasons when storms led to a last-minute cancellation two weeks ago.
Prior to the run getting underway a minute's silence was held to allow both competitors and supporters to remember loved-ones they had lost to the disease.
This is the latest in a long line of fundraising activities that Rydal Penrhos pupils take part in throughout the year, with the school also holding a number of charity events for regional, national and international causes.
Prep School head Roger McDuff, said: “Congratulations to Martha-Rose for taking part in the fundraising event, and for her to complete 5km in just 51 minutes was outstanding.”
