Marcus Copeland's Exile Sportswear shortlisted in three Conwy Business Award categories

A former Rydal Penrhos pupil has been shortlisted in three categories at a prestigious upcoming awards ceremony.

Marcus Copeland’s Exile Sportswear brand has gone from strength-to-strength since its inception, and it has been shortlisted for the Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year and Best Customer Focus at the 2019 Conwy Business Awards.

The 49-year-old set up the company in 2016 due to his love for rugby and sport in general, with the venture also giving him the flexibility to spend as much time as possible with his two children and current pupils, James and Lily.

Exile Sportswear is the only business in the county to make it to the final in three separate categories.

The Exile name came from the invitational rugby 7s side Mr Copeland set up in 1991 – The North Wales Exiles.

In 2017, Mr Copeland was runner-up at the Conwy Business Awards in the Businessman of the Year category, and he made the final of the 2018 Daily Post Business Awards in the Business Start-Up Award Category.

Among a small selection of the teams currently wearing the Exile brand are Conwy Schools FA, Swim Conwy, North Wales Police Rugby, Llandudno Junction FC, Colwyn Bay Hockey Club, North Wales Hockey, Glan Conwy FC, Abergele Rugby Club, Penrhyn Bay Girls FC, Abergele Rugby Club, Colwyn Bay Rugby Club, Mochdre Cricket Club, Conwy Cricket Club and Llandudno Swim Squad.

Exile Sportswear has also provided items such as Les Miserables polo shirts, Leavers’ Hoodies, Uganda Hoodies, Sailing kit, Golf Academy kit, kit bags and summer dresses to Rydal Penrhos.
