An overseas pupil at Rydal Penrhos is set to continue her studies at one of the most prestigious higher education establishments in the world.
Linda Wang, an Upper Sixth Form pupil at the school, has been offered a conditional place at the University of Oxford after impressing officials during the application process.
The Chinese boarding pupil will be studying Mathematics providing she gains the necessary A-Level qualifications this summer.
It has been an academic year littered with fine achievements from the 17-year-old, who managed to secure a Distinction from the UKMT Girls' Mathematical Olympiad alongside fellow pupils Emily Li, Imogen Camp and Vivia Li.
She was also part of the Rydal Penrhos quartet that won the regional heat of the UKMT Senior Team Challenge thanks to an impressive score of 160 out of a possible 180 points to reach the national finals in London later this year.
Linda also secured a Gold certificate from the UKMT Senior Challenge and qualification to the British Mathematical Olympiad to round off her accolades to date.
Head of Sixth Form Pete Lavery, said: “It is a magnificent achievement for Linda to have received an offer from Oxford.
“She is passionate about Maths and will flourish in the academic environment for which Oxford is famous.
“We wish Linda every success in her Upper Sixth year as she works to meet the conditions of the offers.”
