Sixth Form pupils at Rydal Penrhos will get the chance to secure some additional qualifications from the start of the next academic year.
The school announced that they will be running a Level 3 Extended Certificate in Professional Cookery, from September 2019, as an extra-curricular opportunity.
It is a two-year course that begins in Year 12 and is accredited by the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality.
The course develops confidence, creativity and maturity in a relaxed setting, and significantly enhances employment opportunities for anyone wishing to take up weekend, summer of gap year jobs in the future.
Working with Head of Food Studies Laura Gardener, those taking the course will take part in weekly three-hour practical sessions that will run after the normal school day, with a weekly theory session also planned for anyone taking the extended certificate.
There will be continuous assessment through a practical exam schedule, in addition to coursework that will focus on menu planning, writing time-plans and informal tests.
This is the latest in a series of exciting new additions to the Rydal Penrhos curriculum at Sixth Form level, with the Business Cambridge Technical and Psychology A-level further enhancing the vast options in recent months.
Anyone wishing to take up the course, or for more information, contact Head of Food Studies Laura Gardener via email at email@example.com.
