As part of a special series of summer features, we turn our attention to our Year 6 pupils as we reflect on their accomplishments and get the perspective of Prep School Head Alison Hind.

The latest instalment of Leavers’ Focus features William Rutherford:

With a smile that instantly brightens up your day, William has emerged as a much-loved member of the Prep School community and is

He has thrived across all areas of Rydal Penrhos life and has come to life on stage this year at the Year 6 play Aladdin and Café Dolphin, with his incredible talent set to benefit the Senior School’s Junior Drama Club and Dramatic Society considerably when he arrives in September.

Will has already been part of the Rydal Penrhos community for eight years and his enthusiasm, drive and determination are going to be sorely missed by all at the Prep School such has been the impact he has made during his time at the site.

He was the deserved recipient of the Citizenship Award for his outstanding considerate attitude, for his helpfulness and for being a super role model within the school community at Rydal Penrhos’ annual Speech Day event prior to the summer break.

Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “I would challenge anyone to tell me of a moment when they have ever seen William without a smile and genuine twinkle in his eye.

“He is an absolute treasure in that he can light up any room with his chirpy nature and positive outlook on life.

“There is always an air of mischief and fun around this young man who has a wicked sense of humour, yet an incredibly sensitive and caring attitude towards others; he is kind-hearted and a genuinely good friend to have, not surprisingly a very popular member of the year group.

“William is another pupil who has so much going for him both academically and on the sports field but also in the arts – another actor in the making.”
