As part of a special series of summer features, we turn our attention to our Year 6 pupils as we reflect on their accomplishments and get the perspective of Prep School Head Alison Hind.
The latest instalment of Leavers’ Focus features Matthew Johnson:
Matthew is another pupil that made a considerable contribution to Prep School life despite only being at the facility for one academic year.
His outgoing personality and fun-loving nature made him an instant hit with his Year 6 peers, and this ensured a smooth transition to Rydal Penrhos which also aided his development significantly.
The 11-year-old has secured a great deal of success across all areas of Prep School life, with his efforts in the swimming pool drawing widespread plaudits throughout the season.
This resulted in qualification to the Urdd National Gala and a haul of medals from regional meets throughout North Wales to add to what has already been a very promising young career to date.
He has also progressed academically thanks to the expert guidance and support of dedicated staff at the Prep School, in addition to superb efforts in music concerts and on stage during the Aladdin play and Café Dolphin.
Matthew was the deserved recipient of the Welsh Cup at Rydal Penrhos Prep School’s annual Speech Day celebration, which was held on the final day before the summer break.
Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “I knew when I met Matthew this time last year that he would soon settle in.
“After a summer taster day of partying on the field with an ice cream van – no wonder he wanted to join the school!
“Matthew is an energetic boy who has a positive frame of mind. He has grasped at all the opportunities that being in Year 6 has brought, and he has contributed to those a great attitude, making good progress in and out of the classroom.
“This has helped to build a solid foundation in readiness for Year 7.”
