As part of a special series of summer features, we turn our attention to our Year 6 pupils as we reflect on their accomplishments and get the perspective of Prep School Head Alison Hind.
The latest instalment of Leavers’ Focus features Jake McDonald:
Jake has been a valued and much-loved member of the Prep School since 2011, and has developed a significant amount of in and out of the classroom under the care and support of Rydal Penrhos’ dedicated staff team at the site.
He is an enthusiastic young man with an incredible lust for life, and he has really come of age during his final year at the Prep School during a series of different events that have further demonstrated the immense potential Jake possesses in a variety of fields.
Whether it be on stage at the Year 6 play Aladdin or Café Dolphin, to demonstrating his superb mathematical prowess, Jake’s ongoing commitment and determination will be sorely missed when he leaves, but the pupil promises to make a huge impact when he begins life at Rydal Penrhos’ senior school in September.
In recognition of his outstanding work, Jake received an award for Independent Reading at the Prep School’s annual Speech Day event on Friday, July 6.
Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “Jake is a young man who always seems to have a smile on his face – well I certainly have never seen him looking glum.
“He is thoughtful, and a kind friend to others, and has been particularly helpful to those who are new to the school or visiting, which we are very grateful and proud of.
“Since joining the school in kindergarten, Jake has made good progress and has shown real strength in Maths as a bit of a whiz.
“Despite finding some things quite challenging at times, he has a positive outlook and showed particular courage and perseverance in Llanrug where he experienced new things which took him beyond his comfort zone. Very well done!”
