A weightlifting star at Rydal Penrhos will look to enhance his growing reputation at a national event this weekend.
Josh Lynch, a Year 8 pupil at the school, will be taking part in the British Age Grade Weightlifting Championships, which will be held in Castleford on Saturday, February 4.
The gifted 13-year-old, who has broken no fewer than nine Welsh records in his short time competing, has been training hard in the lead-up to the event in Holyhead under the guidance of Commonwealth Games hopeful Harry Misagyni.
During his latest training regime Josh has lifted personal bests and unofficial national records, which give the pupil and his team plenty of confidence heading into the weekend’s action.
In addition to his weightlifting exploits, the sports scholar is also a member of the high-profile Sale Sharks Academy programme, and began training with the programme last month.
“The training at Sale is going really well for him, he is getting some really good technical training which is already paying off, particularly when he plays above his age category for Bethesda Rugby Club.”
