Jayden, Harley & Ethan have night to remember at Wales U20 Six Nations clash with England

Three Lower School pupils at Rydal Penrhos had a night to remember after they were given roles of responsibility during a major sporting event in the region.

Harley Doyle, Ethan Akroyd and Jayden Blears, Year 7 pupils at the school, were part of the ball-boy team for the Wales U20 Six Nations clash with England at Stadiwm Zip World in Colwyn Bay on Friday, February 22.

The trio were part of the Colwyn Bay Rugby Club contingent that aided on the touchline throughout the clash, which saw the young Welsh team dig deep to secure a dramatic 11-10 victory late on.

Replacement Deon Smith proved to be the hero after making a lasting impression for the home side late on in what proved to be a tense affair between two well matched sides throughout.

Kieran Wilkinson's early penalty for the English separated the sides at the interval following a tight first half that saw both defences emerge with plenty of credit after some bone-crunching tackles in critical situations.

Two Cai Evans penalties put Wales ahead before Rusiate Tuima's try, converted by Wilkinson, looked to have secured the win for England.

England had a try disallowed before young Dragons’ prospect Smith crossed for a dramatic try in the closing seconds to spark jubilant scenes in the stands from the North Wales rugby faithful.
