A talented Preparatory School cricketer has been commended for his leadership skills throughout another fine season in Rydal Penrhos colours.
James Gilman, a Year 6 pupil at the school, was appointed cricket captain by Head of Boys’ Games Jamie McLeod at the start of the summer term and has thrived with the extra responsibility during a busy final few weeks ahead of the summer break.
The Head Boy has been an integral part of the squad for a number of years and has become a true leader and organiser which was reflected in their overall performance.
The U11 side produced a series of exceptional displays throughout a busy series of fixtures to close out the academic year, which saw the group come on a significant amount thanks to their commitment and coaching afforded to them by dedicated staff at the Prep School.
James is also catching the eye with his performances as part of the Mochdre Cricket Club youth set-up, which has seen the youth side secure a number of notable successes including a regional league triumph.
Mr McLeod, said: “James has been an outstanding role model for other members of the team and has also served as a source of inspiration to younger Prep School pupils.
“This has been especially pleasing and this tremendous attitude is going to serve him extremely well as he prepares to join Rydal Penrhos’ senior site in September where he can hopefully make a similar impact throughout the coming years.”
