A group of Academic Scholars demonstrated their language skills as part of an ongoing learning development scheme.
Rydal Penrhos’ Modern Foreign Languages department hosted the session last week, which saw a host of pupils descend and show off their ability to use multiple languages in different situations.
The theme of the session was International Scrabble, where the budding linguists competed against each other under the supervision of department head Susan Livingstone and other dedicated staff.
They were tasked with using the format of the popular game to come up with different words from a variety of languages, before explaining what the word means in English to get them some sought-after points.
This is the latest in a series of successful sessions from the learning initiative, which were implemented last year with a view to improving the overall knowledge of those that have earned Academic Scholarships following their respective assessment processes.
Deputy Head Tim Cashell, said: “Our Academic Scholar sessions are something that has received an incredible amount of support from both staff and pupils, who continue to push themselves to get the very most out of their overall experience and education here at Rydal Penrhos.
“The MFL department is another valued area of school life that is currently thriving, and hopefully this initiative will continue into the future to aide each pupil involved considerably.”
