Rydal Penrhos has organised a host of special events to lend its support to a nationwide initiative.
The school will be taking part in National Boarding Week, which runs from June 18-24 and is promoted by the Boarding Schools' Association.
The festivities begin on Sunday with the Big Boarding Sponsored Walk, which is being held across the country to raise much-needed funds for children’s charity Barnardo’s.
This will be followed by the eagerly anticipated Inter-House Boarding Inflatable Obstacle race, which was a hugely popular addition to the calendar last year and saw a performance from Michael Thomas live long in the memory.
Another event will be Tuesday’s Move a Mile Boarding Challenge, which encourages staff and pupils to walk or run a mile to kickstart their day, while the first round of the Taskmaster Boarding Challenge will take place later that afternoon.
The Swim a Mile Boarding Challenge is another way to begin Wednesday in the right frame of mind, with day two of the Taskmaster Boarding Challenge and the Inter-House Boarding Cake Decorating Challenge rounding off a busy series of midweek events at the school.
A second Move a Mile Challenge of the week will be held on Thursday morning, before day three of the Taskmaster Challenge and the Big Sleepover, which will take place throughout each of Rydal Penrhos’ four boarding houses.
Deputy Head Tim Cashell, said: “We are proud to be a thriving boarding school that provides exceptional care and support for those using our site, and National Boarding Week is a fantastic way to highlight not only the great work being undertaken at schools’ across the country, but also the benefits a boarding education can provide.”
