A pair of sports scholars at Rydal Penrhos performed well during their first outing for a regional side recently.
Ariana Milligan and Eve Durrans, Year 7 pupils at the school, were recently selected to the North Wales U13 Hockey squad and took part in a high-profile tournament with the group in Manchester earlier this month.
The duo were put forward for the trials in Bala by their coaches at Colwyn Bay Hockey Club, where they have been training throughout the season.
They also developed their skills considerably under the guidance of Rydal Penrhos’ superb coaching provision, in addition to the regional development squad on Thursday evenings.
Both Ariana and Eve gave a very good account of themselves in the face of some stern competition, and they had some success to show for their efforts as the North Wales side finished runners-up in the penalty shootout portion of the event.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “This was a fantastic experience for Ariana and Eve and it will stand them in very good stead as they look to make a further impact for their regional side in the coming months.
“They both worked incredibly hard during their first year as part of our sports scholarship programme, which has seen them develop their skills considerably thanks to their tremendous attitude and desire to succeed.”
