A Sixth Form pupil at Rydal Penrhos lent his support to a major event in the region recently.
Nick Fiorita, who was recently appointed Head Boy, played a part in the hugely successful Armed Forces Day in Llandudno, which was held on June 30 and July 1.
The 17-year-old is a member of a regional Army Cadet group and spent the first day of the event looking after other cadets who were marching during the parade, before they went on to pass Prime Minister Theresa May and salute The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, who also attended the celebration.
Nick then moved on to Bodafon Fields where he stood at the Army Cadet stand and promoted the benefits of the youth organisation to those in attendance.
He said: “The day was fantastic and great fun with so many different regiments and Armed Forces personnel being celebrated.
“Promoting the cadets was also an amazing opportunity to share my experiences and enjoyment with others and allow future children to have a sense of pride in the cadets and possibility the military.”
The following day saw the Year 12 pupil selected as a Standard Bearer and stood with Armed Forces veterans at the Drum Head Service, which was a small religious service and closing ceremony.
Throughout the service, certain parts of the standard had to be lowered and this represented another significant honour for the Sixth Former at the event, which attracted thousands of people to North Wales.
