Two Rydal Penrhos pupils have received their certificates after completing the second stage of a nationwide scheme.
Gowri Pradeep and Ethan Davies, Lower Sixth and Year 11 pupils at the school, successfully completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award under the expert guidance of programme co-ordinator Dr Jim Lewis.
The pair had to undergo a series of assessments and expeditions in testing conditions in order to achieve this feat, which means they are now eligible to try for the coveted Gold award and
They received their certificate from Head of Middle School John Murphy and Deputy Head Tim Cashell at Rydal Penrhos’ end of term Prize Giving on Wednesday, April 28.
This is the latest in a long line of achievements for the programme in recent months, which has seen Jenny Johnson gain the highest honour possible and will now attend a royal ceremony to collect her gold certificate later this year.
Dr Lewis, said: “Huge thanks are due to Ms Margerison, Ms Jones and Mr Sanders for their dedicated support of the Award Scheme here at school, without whose tireless efforts none of the above would be remotely possible.
“I would also like to thank, in advance, Mrs Gardener and Mr Davies, both of whom will be giving up weekends to hike, cook and camp in support of expeditions in the summer term and are, understandably, both very excited by the prospect.”
