Girls' cricket stars rewarded with individual honours after fine season

Girls’ cricket stars at Rydal Penrhos have been rewarded for their exceptional application and progress with special awards.

The school enjoyed a hugely successful season for the newly formed U13 and U15 sides, who all developed their skills considerably during training sessions and competitive matches under the watchful eye and guidance of dedicated coaching staff situated at Rydal Penrhos.

Head of Girls’ Games Nicky Head presented individual awards to deserving pupils prior to the summer break, with Ariana Milligan securing the U13 Best Player thanks to a series of fine performances.

Alys Peake-Jones showed considerable promise throughout the campaign and scooped the U13 Most Progress Award, with Gloria Johnson taking home the U15 honour in the same category.

Rounding off the accolades was Amanda Sperring, who won the U15 Best Player thanks to her consistency and determination throughout the campaign.

Mrs Head, said: “We have really increased our participation in girls’ cricket this season with games being played in U13 and U15 age groups.

“It has been a real pleasure to see the girls develop and the commitment they age shown has been exemplary.

“In the U13 age group, Catriona Searl, Melissa Vos and Martha Hind have made great progress and in the U15s Noone Abdalla, Charlotte Grosart, Megan Gibson and Hannah Davies have done the same.

“Hopefully when we return in September they will all approach indoor cricket nets with the same enthusiasm and determination so we are ready for hardball cricket next summer.”
