A number of Girls’ Hockey players were rewarded for their fine efforts throughout the campaign with special awards.
The worthy recipients were presented with their respective prizes at Rydal Penrhos’ annual Sports Awards Dinner prior to the half term break, with ex-professional rugby star and former pupil Andrew Fenby on hand to present the accolades in his role as special guest.
Outgoing Head Girl Gowri Pradeep signed off her final year at the school in style with a series of exceptional displays, earning her the Player of the Year honour from Head of Girls’ Games Nicky Head.
Year 11 pupil Sydney Johnson’s outstanding development in a competitive environment saw her come away with the Most Improved Player of the Year, with Gowri and Lucy Carnall attaining Full Colours thanks to their overall influence within the First VII squad.
The presentation of Half Colours rounded off the achievements, which were awarded to departing Deputy Head Girl Nuria Sendros-Montolio, Caitlin Teece, Keira Bonnington, Sydney, Kathleen Cheesley and Cerys Cuddihy.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Our Girls’ Hockey provision came on a significant amount from a senior perspective throughout the course of the season, which is a direct result of their tireless commitment under the guidance and support of our specialist coaching staff here at Rydal Penrhos.
“It was also very pleasing to see our Year 11 pupils make an impact within the senior side, and this can give them all great encouragement in terms of what they can achieve in the future.”
