Rydal Penrhos has announced a superb schedule for the whole school community to get involved for this year’s Founders’ Weekend from September 14-16.
The festivities will begin on Friday, September 14 with a Founders’ Service at St John’s Church from 3.30pm, which welcomes Director of Education for the Methodist Church Barbara Easton as the special guest preacher.
This will be followed by a Legal profession networking drinks evening from 6.30pm.
Saturday’s action-packed schedule begins with School Tours, an archives exhibition and pop-up art gallery at 10.30am, before the LEGO Mindstorm competition takes centre stage in what is a new and exciting addition to the calendar.
There will be a new Girls’ Hockey tournament replacing the old format, with teams invited to apply to compete for the Natalie Kate Moss Trophy.
Another notable highlight will undoubtedly be the official opening of the newly refurbished Sixth Form Ferguson Centre following a successful pupil-led campaign to renovate the facility.
Some of the best young Fives talent from across the country will be on show at the Wales Open Festival, and there will also be Boys’ Hockey and Girls’ Netball tournaments throughout the afternoon.
All hockey and netball teams entered must be seven-a-side and all ages and abilities are welcome to register.
The supremely talented Director of Music Pete Williams will be leading a Choir Workshop for the second consecutive year, and the day will conclude with the Rydal Penrhos Society AGM and North Wales Dinner at the Imperial Hotel in Llandudno.
Sunday sees the eagerly anticipated Vikings’ Rugby clash for the Bleddyn Williams Trophy take place from 11am, followed by a barbecue at New Field.
Another new addition to the schedule is an Open Golf tournament at North Wales Golf Club in Llandudno, which will be held in stableford format over 18 holes and includes a two-course meal.
