A familiar face made a welcome return to Rydal Penrhos to attend a special presentation ceremony.
Paul Bendall, a former Headmaster at the Prep School, was a guest at the school’s weekly Celebration Assembly on Friday, June 21 on behalf of the Rotary Club of Colwyn Bay.
He was joined by this year’s Rotary President at the event to announce the results from the annual Young Writers’ Competition run by the organisation throughout the region.
The theme this year surrounded ‘Inspiration’, with Year 6 tasked with coming up with an imaginative story that brought a wide range of different things that inspire the year group.
After each entry was judged by the Rotary panel, Daisy Yates’ incredible story, which was read out by Mr Bendall during the assembly, finished as runner-up in the District competition after being put forward by the Rotary.
Another to achieve success was Fflur Pierce, who was the runner-up from the Prep School entries, with Gracie Tavernor, Sophie Edwards, Violet Roberts, Rana Abou-Samra and Amber England-Bryant receiving highly commended of commended certificates as a result of their contribution to the annual competition.
Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “It was an honour to welcome back our former Headmaster Mr Bendall to Rydal Penrhos to announce what was yet another outstanding set of achievements from our Year 6 group.
“Daisy’s emotional story was of a very high standard and was thoroughly deserving of receiving recognition at district level, and each pupil can be very proud of their contribution towards this year’s Young Writers’ competition.”
