Excitement is building ahead of one of the most anticipated dates on the sporting calendar.
The school’s annual Staff versus Leavers’ football match will take place on Friday, May 18 at the home of JD Welsh Premier League side Llandudno (7.15pm).
The departing Sixth Form group will be looking to gain revenge after the 2017 leavers’ were heavily beaten 6-1 in last year’s encounter.
In midfielder Matthew Trumper they have a great talent who is capable of unlocking defences at any given opportunity, while pacey forward Elliot Wilkinson is another that could alter the outcome if he is afforded space by the staff rearguard.
Goalkeeper Kieron McNamara is a safe pair of hands that is more accustomed to success on the rugby field, with Head Boy Alex Benfield another to keep an eye on during the highly anticipated clash.
The staff team boasts a wealth of experience and will be buoyed by their convincing victory at the recent Charity Five-a-Side competition, with the likes of Craig Stock, the Reverend Nick Sissons and Peter Lavery three figures that will play a huge part in any triumph that comes their way.
Maths teacher Darren Baker is sure to be a tough proposition to pass in goal, while Stephen O’Neill and WPL referee Mark Petch will be an assured presence at the back as the staff look to make it consecutive wins at the event.
Anyone wishing to attend is welcome to do so, and refreshments will be available at the bar.
