Rydal Penrhos’ football side began the season in outstanding form with a resounding 9-1 victory at Ellesmere College.
The visitors wasted no time in making their mark on proceedings when Joe Gardener finished off a Will Lynch cross to open the scoring after just 90 seconds.
Things got even better for the school side soon after when Tawanda Harris reacted first to prod home from close range after Jack Jones’ thunderous 40-yard drive cannoned against the post.
Jan Dielehner finished well following another period of pressure to seal a third just before the break, although the hosts did manage to get themselves back into the contest via a penalty.
After the interval saw the pacey Elliot Wilkinson move to a more prominent forward position, and the Upper Sixth Form pupil made the most of the opportunity by netting three times in just over ten minutes.
This same pattern of play continued throughout the half which brought with it further goals courtesy of Alex Benfield and Matty Trumper, while Felix Fink marked his senior debut with a well-taken finish to round off the scoring.
Deputy Head Tim Cashell, said: “This was a very encouraging start to the season in difficult conditions, and hopefully they can all take great heart from their performance and build on it for the season ahead.”
