A number of Preparatory School pupils have become the first to gain platinum marks from an ongoing learning initiative.
Rydal Penrhos staff devised the popular Spelling Challenge scheme for pupils in 2017, which has three different levels each with 110 words.
The pupils have been encouraged to work towards their incremental targets of Gold, Silver and Bronze within each stage, and Prep School Head Alison Hind put together a special Platinum section of the Challenge for those that completed the initial stages.
The Platinum level consists of more complex words that significantly tests pupils’ vocabulary, and the level has seen its first successes in the form of Tristan Griffiths, Rana Abou-Samra, Fflur Pierce, Keira Luke and Chloe Tillman-Lennon.
Each Year 6 pupil is now the proud owner of an Extended Spelling Silver Award, and they received their respective accolades from Mrs Hind at the final Celebration Assembly of the academic year on Friday, June 27.
Mrs Hind, said: “This is the first time that any pupil has achieved success from the Platinum section of the Spelling Challenge, which represents a considerable achievement and one that Tristan, Rana, Fflur, Keira and Chloe can be enormously proud of.
“They have all worked incredibly hard throughout the initiative since its inception, and I know that this has aided them considerably within a classroom environment.
“Hopefully this is a trend that can continue throughout the remainder of their education, and we are going to miss them all greatly.”
