Five recognised for efforts with Headmaster's Awards

A number of talented pupils across varying year groups received recognition for their development with coveted awards.

Ioan Peake-Jones, Lucy Jones, Richard Wolfendale, Melissa Vos and Arran Sen were chosen by Simon Smith to receive Headmaster’s Awards for their overall contribution to life at the school throughout the academic year.

All five received their accolades from former pupil Flt Lt Nathan Jones at the school’s annual Speech Day last month.

Year 11 pupil Ioan is a very strong academic who is thriving in numerous areas including Science and English, while also achieving national recognition for his effort in the UK Mathematics Trust’s Intermediate Challenge earlier this year.

Fellow Year 11 pupil Lucy has shown a tremendous amount of progression in recent months, and her recent efforts during her GCSE examination really caught the eye.

Aspiring golfer Richard has achieved a number of regional tournament successes during the season, and he is also thriving in areas such as Geography thanks to taking part in a prestigious work placement scheme organised by the Met Office.

Year 7 pupil Melissa is a supremely talented musician who has shown an enormous amount of potential in a variety of subjects, while Arran is a Lancashire Cricket Club youth prospect who has enhanced his growing reputation after embracing boarding life at the school to the full.

Deputy Head Tim Cashell, said: “All five pupils have worked incredibly hard under the guidance and support of our committed staff here at Rydal Penrhos, and they are thoroughly deserving of the Headmaster’s Awards from Mr Smith.”
