The Nursery Department boasts excellent, self-contained facilities: a large open plan area with units for role play, circle and story time, classroom activities/numeracy and literacy groups, construction/small world, art and wet activities, reading and computer activities.
There is also a secure, fully enclosed outdoor area.
In addition, the Early Years children benefit from specialist gym instruction in the school hall and music lessons/singing lessons and various activities and clubs take place for even our youngest children, including ballet. We endeavour to make the most of our beautiful location in the education we offer. With this in mind, our Forest School status enables pupils from Early Years to Year 6 to learn in an outdoor classroom, from examining wildlife to playing fun, educational games to inspire learning, the Forest School is another fantastic area at Rydal Penrhos, which is a great way to enhance learning.
On a weekly basis, our children have the opportunity to participate in our Coastal School which incorporates topical work from the classroom through various problem-solving methods along the picturesque Colwyn Bay coastline, which will tests pupils' creativity, investigative techniques, numeracy and literacy.
Examples of activities include moulding sand to create beach related animals, searching for and investigating different sea life, confidence and relationship building exercises, in addition to general ecology and weather-related tasks.
