Excitement is building ahead of one of the most prominent dates on the Rydal Penrhos calendar.
The school’s annual Speech Day will take place on Saturday, May 26, and inspirational former pupil Flt Lt Nathan Jones will be sharing his incredible story with those in attendance as this year’s special guest speaker.
Chair of Governors’ Julian Barnes and Headmaster Simon Smith will also be addressing the audience, while the speech from Head Boy Alex Benfield and Head Girl Olivia Williams is sure to be another notable highlight.
New catering providers Holroyd Howe will be providing some fantastic refreshments following the event, which will be followed by the annual cricket match between the Rydal Dolphins and the school’s First XI.
Staff, Parents and Sixth Formers will then conclude the festivities at the eagerly anticipated Leavers’ Ball, which will once again take place at the Kinmel Manor in Abergele.
Mr Smith, said: “Speech Day is arguably the highlight of the Senior School calendar and I thoroughly enjoyed my first Rydal Penrhos Speech Day last year.
“I hope that we are, again, blessed with good weather and I know that Flt Lt Nathan Jones, our guest of honour, will be interesting and inspirational in equal measure.
“I have been working with Holroyd Howe on the catering provision and they are looking forward to showing off their skills on the day too. More importantly, it is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the pupils and the progress of the Senior School in the last 12 months.
“Whilst I haven’t started writing my speech yet I can confirm I have at least thought about it! I do not wish to give too much away but I will give one hint – The Empire Strikes Back. I look forward to seeing you all on the 26th May.”
