A Sixth Form pupil at Rydal Penrhos has been acknowledged for his excellent sporting contribution with a special award.
Ewan Luke, a Year 13 pupil at the school, scooped the Morphy Cup for Boys’ Sport at Rydal Penrhos’ annual Sports Awards dinner, and he received the accolade from special guest and former pupil Andrew Fenby.
It has been another fantastic year of achievement from a sporting perspective from Ewan, who has been part of the Team GB youth sailing set-up alongside boat partner Zac Blomeley, with the pair continuing their incredible success at national level throughout the season.
The 17-year-old has also played a significant part in the school’s senior rugby sides in both the regulation and 7s discipline during their respective campaigns, with Ewan also part of the U18 boys’ hockey side that clinched runners-up spot in the Welsh Schools’ Championships.
He is also a member of the school’s cricket side and has been a massive influence at competitive events as Payne House captain, in addition to winning Junior Sports Man of the Year at the Conwy Sports Awards.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Ewan has been such an important contributor across a wide range of different sports throughout the academic year and he is thoroughly deserving of this year’s Morphy Cup.
“He is multi-talented, demonstrates an incredible will to get better on a daily basis and has been a great inspiration to younger pupils that are aiming to follow in his footsteps in the years to come.”
