It was another fine season for our Eton Fives provision, with plenty of success to celebrate at regional and national events.
The Rydal Penrhos squad took part in a host of fixtures at Shrewsbury and Harrow Schools over the spring term, in addition to making long trips to Eton College for some high-profile competitions.
Each member of the squad developed their respective skills considerably over this period, with the U12 team showing enormous promise and picking up some notable achievements along the way.
The determined duo of Adam McGuigan and Callan Earle made their presence felt during the Eton Fives National Championships against some of the best young prospects in the country, turning in a series of outstanding displays that saw them crowned Plate B Champions thanks to an outstanding victory over a Harrow side.
There was further cause for encouragement from a Rydal Penrhos perspective in the form of Josh Stewart and Osca Clarke, who managed to continue their excellent recent progress by reaching the last 16 in the same category.
In addition to fixtures on their travels, Rydal Penrhos also welcomed Dover College for a hotly contested series of matches as part of their tour of the region.
Plenty of Lower School pupils have also performed well, with Gabe Speakman, Arun Ramesh, Raif Horrocks, Jonah Craddock, Ethan Akroyd, Harley Doyle, Jaydon Blears, Tarun Ramesh. Telor Jones and Max Cowen-Wright all taking to a new sport extremely well.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Our Eton Fives programme has been a proud part of our history for many years here at Rydal Penrhos, and it was another excellent season both from an achievement and development perspective.”
