Some of the region’s best young artists have been coming up with special creations ahead of a special event at Rydal Penthos.
The Prep and Primary Schools’ Art competition has been taking entries from a wealth of different education establishments throughout North Wales, Cheshire and the North West.
The theme for the 2019 competition is ‘Discovering the land’, reflecting upon the great outdoors, a sense of place, and the natural beauty of our landscape, but allowing for any interpretation of the theme or a more abstract form.
The interpretation of the theme can be tailored to fit with the curriculum or a specific project work in class.
There will be two categories for the competition; Years 3-4 and Years 5-6, and the work will also be demonstrated at a special exhibition situated at the school later this year.
Every school entered will have its own specific winners, with an overall top three also set to be determined.
Lisa Williams, illustrator extraordinaire and former Penrhos College pupil, whose illustrations have graced the pages of many children’s books as well as Thornton’s chocolate goodies, will be running the rule over the entries and picking a select few winning entries in her role as special guest judge.
The deadline for entries has been extended until Monday, March 25, with a Prizegiving date to be confirmed following the final submissions.
