A Preparatory School pupil put her supreme swimming talent to the test during a specially arranged challenge recently.
Ellie Knight, a Year 5 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, has been developing her skills considerably in recent months and was tasked with swimming 2,500 metres (100 lengths) in a one-hour period.
The challenge came about after Ellie has consistently managed to break her class record on a yearly basis, and after a superb demonstration of technique and endurance, she managed to achieve the feat in 55 minutes.
This is the latest in a series of outstanding achievements from the pupil, who is thriving both academically and during a wealth of co-curricular activities such as Music, Drama, Sailing and Martial Arts.
Ellie received a certificate acknowledging her achievement from Deputy Head Catherine Hughes at Rydal Penrhos’ weekly Celebration Assembly on Friday, January 25.
Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “This represents a significant milestone for Ellie and it is an accomplishment she can be rightfully very proud of.
“She is extremely busy due to her school commitments and the activities she takes part in during evenings and weekends, and Ellie’s enthusiasm towards enhancing her overall development is something we aspire to install into each child under our care here at Rydal Penrhos.
“Hopefully this is something that can inspire Ellie to ever greater things in the future and I look forward to hearing about these in the future.”
