A Preparatory School pupil now faces a race against time in a bid to complete a hugely successful academic initiative.
Rydal Penrhos’ hard-working and passionate staff devised a new spelling challenge for pupils last year, which has three different levels each with 110 words.
The pupils have been encouraged to work towards their incremental targets of Gold, Silver and Bronze within each stage, and a host of certificates have already been issued as a result of their hard work since the initiative began.
Ella Northcott, a Year 6 pupil at the school, successfully came through her Stage Three Silver Award with flying colours, and is now one step away from completing the challenge.
The 11-year-old has just a fortnight to gain the necessary knowledge and secure gold before she departs for Senior School life, which would see the talented pupil add her name to the long list that have already achieved this feat since its inception last year.
Deputy Head Alison Hind, said: “Ella has done fantastically well to reach this particular level of the challenge, and I know she is working very hard with staff and in her own time in the hope of completing the challenge at some stage during the next two weeks.
“Hopefully Ella can achieve this milestone and her enthusiasm, determination and ability to help others are traits that will ensure she is going to be sorely missed as she embarks on the next stage of her journey here at Rydal Penrhos from September.”
