A group of Preparatory School skiers made the most of an exciting opportunity organised by staff to gain some extra knowledge and experience on a recent trip.
The eight Rydal Penrhos pupils were part of the contingent that travelled to Madonna di Campiglio in the heart of the Italian Trentino Dolomites over the half term break, which is a trip that the school put on annually.
Biv Gilmartin, Jasmin Beckett-Donald, Agatha Favill, Archie Jeeves, Harrison McKinnel, Shane Ayeni, Jenson Hodgson-Roberts and Cameron Pye all took part in a special Ski School during the visit, where they enhanced their skills under the guidance of staff at the resort.
This culminated in a number of daunting treks down a variety of slopes to put their new skills to good use, and all managed to successfully complete the Italian Ski Academy initiative.
All eight received a certificate for their efforts, which were presented to them by Deputy Head Alison Hind at Rydal Penrhos’ weekly Celebration Assembly on Friday, February 23.
Head of Boys’ Games Jamie McLeod, who organised the trip, said: “Each pupil showed fantastic application during the Ski School, and all of them emerged from in better skiers as a result.
“This is a great learning environment for anybody wishing to develop their skills even further, and our Skiing programme is something very unique and something that our pupils get involved in across all age groups.”
