Eco Committee hold cake sale for Rhino sculpture project

Rydal Penrhos’ Eco Committee held a special event to raise further funds for an upcoming project later this year.

The Prep School group organised a Cake Sale on Tuesday, June 12, with all proceeds going towards the iron framework for their planned animal sculpture for the school garden.

The tasty treats were provided by the generous Year 6 and Year 1 classes, and a wonderful array of delicious cakes were available for the large number of pupils and staff that lent their support to the event to enjoy.

After another hugely successful event, a total of £110.55 was collected and the sum will be added to the current amount as they look to reach their £600 target during the next academic year.

Eco Committee members will be holding further cake sales with the remaining year groups in the autumn term, and any surplus funds raised will be donated to the Orangutan Appeal, which is supported by Jacha Potgieter who designed the rhino sculpture and paid a visit to Rydal Penrhos for a special assembly last year.

Deputy Head Alison Hind, said: “Our Eco Committee do so much fabulous work throughout the year under the expert leadership of teacher Julie Woodthorpe, who is very passionate about raising awareness of various subjects relating to the environment.

“This is something that the group really embraces, and we are thrilled that their latest cake sale was another success.”
