Dr Bahijja Raimi-Abraham returns for Scientific Society lecture

A former Rydal Penrhos pupil returned to lend her support to an ongoing academic initiative run by Sixth Formers.

Dr Bahijja Raimi-Abraham was the special guest lecturer at the latest Scientific Society lecture, which took place in the Carnegie Room on Tuesday, April 17.

She is currently a Lecturer in Pharmaceutics at King’s College London and graduated with an MPharm degree from the University of East Anglia (UEA), School of Pharmacy in 2007.

Her lecture will be on the topic of “Is Pharmacy for You?” where Dr Raimi-Abraham discussed her path into the profession, her career so far and the research she has undertaken.

This was followed by a brief question and answer session relating to all things STEM.

During her visit, she also got the chance to visit some former teachers, in addition to speaking with Alumni and Development director Sarah Ritchie.

She said: “I thoroughly enjoyed giving the Scientific Society Lecture at Rydal Penrhos School.

“The pupils asked a lot of inquisitive questions and it was great to see so many interested in pursuing careers in STEM.

“It was lovely to be back at the school, so many memories!

“It did feel a little strange giving a talk in the Carnegie Room. I believe the last time I was there was to take my GCSE English Speaking and Listening exam many (many) moons ago.”
