A prominent staff member had a much-needed trim as part of a special event at Rydal Penrhos.
The school held its annual Wesley House Day on Friday, March 2, which featured plenty of activities to celebrate John Wesley, one of the most prominent figures in the creation of Rydal School's formation more than a century ago.
A cake sale was held in the Carnegie Room during morning break, where hungry pupils were able to buy some tasty treats and raise funds for cancer charity CLIC Sargent in the process.
This was followed by the shaving and styling of Director of Sport Allen Boyd’s beard during lunch, where staff and pupils paid for the privilege to vote for what style they wanted his new look to be.
The activity brought a large number of onlookers and Upper Sixth Form pupil Ben Gibson was tasked with trimming the beard and styling it into a handlebar moustache, which drew comparisons with Yosemite Sam and Hulk Hogan.
Unfortunately, the annual Wesley Day Run was postponed due to the adverse weather conditions, but has been rescheduled for this week.
Deputy Head Tim Cashell, said: “Wesley Day is always one of the highlights of the calendar here at Rydal Penrhos, and although the run had to be called-off it was still a memorable day thanks to the spirit shown by staff and pupils.
“Mr Boyd’s beard has been the topic of great discussion in recent weeks at the school, and he was a great sport in having it removed all in the name of charity.”
