A host of talented cross-country runners at Rydal Penrhos have been selected to a regional squad ahead of a high-profile competition this week.
No fewer than 14 pupils from the school will turn out for the Conwy squad at the Eryri Cross-Country Championships, which will take place on Wednesday, January 30.
Lily Davies, Caitriona Searl and Emily Stubbings will compete in the Junior Girls’ category, with the Year 7 duo of Harley Doyle and Gabriel Speakman also looking to add to their impressive recent run of results throughout the academic year.
The Middle Girls’ event will be boosted by the inclusion of Lorena Loizaga, and the Year 11 duo of Cameron Shaw and Zach Speakman will be aiming for further success at Eryri level in the Middle Boys’ category.
Ruby James, Louise Weiss, Nia Seenan, Elan Watkin Jones and Laura O’Kelly will form part of the Conwy Senior Girls’ line-up at the event, with Zac Blomeley taking his place in the Senior Boys’ race against some of the best young competitors in the region.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “We are delighted to have so many of our young athletes in the Conwy squad for the Eryri Championships, and hopefully they can give a good account of themselves and push the county to a strong finish.
“They are very committed individuals who have displayed tremendous progression under the guidance of our strength and conditioning staff here at Rydal Penrhos, which gives them the best possible platform to reach their respective goals across a multitude of different sports.”
